Drake, Sexyy Red and Travis Scott Honor Producer Tay Keith After His Death

Drake, Sexyy Red and Travis Scott publicly mourn producer Tay Keith after he was found dead on June 18; family issues statement and police say no foul play.

Producers rarely become household names the way rappers do, but in the last decade Tay Keith‘s drum patterns and ominous stabs were as familiar as any hook on the radio. That imprint is now the context for an outpouring of grief after the Memphis-born beatmaker was found dead on June 18 at his Nashville home.

Within days, artists who leaned on Keith’s sound for some of their biggest moments publicly paid tribute. On Friday, June 19, three names closely connected to his catalog—Sexyy Red, Drake and Travis Scott—shared posts mourning the producer.

Sexyy Red posted a photo with Tay Keith and captioned it:

“BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT,” Sexyy captioned a photo of herself and Tay Keith. “WE BROTHERS BUT NOT RELATED I LOVE YOU BRUDDAAA @taykeith STILL DA BEST DUO US 5LIFE.”

Drake likewise offered a brief, reverent message on Instagram, writing:

“Endless and eternal gratitude for your spirit and your contributions to this thing that we all love so much…you will be deeply missed.”‘

Elsewhere, La Flame posted on his Instagram Story:

“We gon miss you broozayy. Gone keep going hard for ya…!!!”

Those three artists are among the most prominent collaborators in Keith’s catalog. He is credited as a co-architect of Travis Scott’s stadium-spanning “Sicko Mode,” produced the propulsive underpinning of Drake’s “Nonstop,” and supplied the beat that propelled Sexyy Red’s “Pound Town” into a cultural moment, among numerous other placements that threaded through mainstream hip-hop over the last several years.

Family statement and circumstances

On June 19, Tay Keith’s family issued a statement about the producer’s tragic passing. They asked for privacy while underscoring the human being behind the stage name:

“BryTavious was a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend. While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious—a source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance,” the statement reads in part.

“We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched. We respectfully ask for privacy and continued prayers for his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Memorial arrangements will be shared at a later date.”

Police found Keith at his Nashville home on June 18. Authorities have not released a cause of death and say they do not suspect foul play.

The reactions from Drake, Sexyy Red and Travis Scott are part of a broader conversation about how producers like Keith shape contemporary rap, often as the invisible hand behind career-defining moments. As tributes accumulate, his contributions to tracks that became cultural touchstones are being revisited alongside the grief.
