Big Tigger Arrested in Atlanta on Aggravated Battery and Child Cruelty Charges

Big Tigger was arrested in Atlanta on June 20 on aggravated battery and third-degree cruelty to children charges; he denies the allegations.

Big Tigger, the famed media personality who has been a fixture on radio and television for years, was arrested in Atlanta on Saturday, June 20, according to a report published Tuesday, June 23 by TMZ.

Arrest details and the allegations

Police took Tigger into custody on an aggravated battery charge and a separate third-degree cruelty to children charge. Fulton County records indicate he was released the same morning after posting a $9,000 bond for the aggravated battery count and a $1,000 bond for the cruelty-to-children allegation. TMZ notes that no further details about the incident were available at the time of reporting.

The arrest follows an Instagram post from Tigger’s wife, Alicia Brown, who shared a photo showing bruising on her face and captioned the image, “Ask my husband why my face happened.” Dispatch records obtained by TMZ reportedly show Brown sought medical treatment for those injuries and that a police investigation subsequently named Tigger as a suspect.

Responses and statements

Tigger has publicly denied the allegations. In a statement released to TMZ he wrote:

“I want to say categorically that these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false. Out of respect for everyone involved, I ask for grace, privacy and restraint as my family navigates this difficult moment. I remain grateful for the trust so many of you have placed in me throughout that journey. I intend to continue living and leading in a manner worthy of that trust.”

Elsewhere, Alicia Brown addressed the situation in comments to The Breakfast Club earlier this month. She stressed that she “never called [her] husband an abuser,” and pushed back against social media conclusions, adding that she trusts the legal process to play out as intended.

At this stage it remains unclear how the Instagram post, the medical treatment, and the arrest are legally related. XXL has reached out to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

The case is ongoing and developments are expected as authorities and the parties involved continue through the legal process.
