Benzino was arrested June 9 in Crisp County, Ga., after a speeding stop on I-75 led to drug charges; passenger and vehicle owner also face charges.

Pulled over for driving 91 mph in a 70-mph zone on Interstate 75, Benzino’s roadside stop in Crisp County, Georgia, on June 9 quickly spiraled into more than a simple traffic citation. Officers who clocked the silver SUV with a laser speed detection device say the encounter revealed a suspended license and suspected drugs, leading to multiple arrests.
According to a report from WALB News 10, deputies pulled the vehicle over after the speeding call. Zino reportedly told the officer that he had a suspended license, explaining that it was for outstanding child support payments. When deputies ran his information, they found the suspension stemmed from multiple infractions.

Law enforcement officers told investigators they smelled marijuana; Benzino allegedly admitted to possessing some and directed them to a bag in the driver’s side door. A second bag was located near his passenger, who records identify as a woman named Ruth Lewis. Lewis told deputies the drugs were hers. Both Benzino and Lewis were booked in the Crisp County Jail on drug charges, while Benzino also faces counts for speeding and driving without a valid license.
Complicating the picture further, the silver SUV Benzino was driving did not belong to him. Records show the vehicle is registered to a woman named Ashley Bell, who was later charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle.
Benzino has since been released on bond. XXL has reached out to the Crisp County Sheriff
