Gloss Up Says Emergency Surgery Was Needed After Serious Car Accident

Gloss Up is recovering after emergency surgery doctors performed to save her foot following a serious car accident, a grim update that unfolded in real time across her Instagram on Sunday, July 12.

The Memphis-bred rapper first told followers she had been in an accident and, in a post that quickly drew concern, said she believed her foot had already been amputated. “I almost lost my life! I’m so sad!” she wrote. She followed that with another message that read, “I Have Never In My Life Been In A Car Accident Until Now,” adding, “My Whole Foot Amputated! I’m SAD ASFFFF! It’s My Birthdayyyyy.”

Her team stepped in soon after to correct the record and explain that the situation was still unfolding. According to the statement posted to her story, Gloss Up had suffered a severe foot injury and was heavily medicated for pain when she mistakenly thought the amputation had already happened. “Gloss Up was recently involved in a serious car accident and sustained a severe injury to her foot,” the team wrote. “While the medical team is doing everything they can to save it, she is currently heavily medicated for pain and mistakenly thought it had already been amputated.”

The update made clear that the foot had not been amputated and that doctors were still working on it. “To clarify: her foot has NOT been amputated. She is actively in surgery, and doctors are actively working to save and treat it,” the statement continued. “She needs all the support she can get right now. Please keep her in your thoughts and send your strongest prayers for her recovery and her medical team.”

Hours later, a follow-up post confirmed that the surgery had been successful and thanked fans for their support. That post also included graphic photos of the injury, which Gloss’ team said were shared to show just how severe the accident was.
