E-40, Bow Wow and Ying Yang Twins Turn SeaWorld San Diego Into a Summer Hip-Hop Nostalgia Spot

SeaWorld San Diego has spent the summer doing something few theme parks would have on the brief: programming nostalgia-era hip-hop and watching the crowds show up for it. E-40, Bow Wow and the Ying Yang Twins have already helped sell out dates at the Southern California park, which has made a deliberate point of leaning into rap and R&B acts that shaped a certain generation’s weekend soundtrack.

It’s the second summer SeaWorld San Diego has centered much of its concert series around hip-hop, even though the annual Summer Concert series itself has been running for years. In 2025, after viral moments tied to the Ying Yang Twins and Bow Wow, staff told Rolling Stone, “One of the things we both noticed [last year] was that hip-hop and R&B have this multi-generational feel to them. It’s particularly this genre where it’s millennial, it’s throwback…these hits that were the soundtrack of your life.”

That framing has clearly worked. Part of the appeal is the sheer oddity of seeing artists like these on a SeaWorld stage. Part of it is the crowd, which has become its own talking point: kids, parents and grandmas packed together and dancing through the set, turning what might have been a novelty booking into a recurring summer draw.

Elsewhere on the bill, SeaWorld has brought in Dem Franchize Boyz, Ashanti, Ginuwine, Soulja Boy, Paul Wall, Jordin Sparks and Warren G for its 2026 lineup, reinforcing how fully the park has committed to the throwback lane.
