NLE The Great Debuts Shiloh Alter Ego, Maroon Wig Ahead of New Album Era

As NLE Choppa continues to reshape himself under the name NLE The Great, the Memphis rapper is leaning into a new visual identity and a new album cycle at the same time. The latest shift arrived on Instagram with a maroon wig, a fresh alter ego and a clear signal that a new project is close.

On Thursday, July 16, NLE confirmed that a new album is set to arrive on July 30, pairing the announcement with a preview of new music on Instagram. A few days earlier, he had already started laying out the direction of the era by introducing Shiloh, the character he’s now attaching to the project.

“Introducing SHILOH…,” he wrote alongside a set of photos showing off the wig. “Shiloh: Tranquility, Peace, & Gods gift. The Light Bringer.”

He said the maroon hair was meant to reflect “Renewal Of The Mind,” while making it clear he wasn’t abandoning the version of himself fans already know. “Still Desporado,” he added.

He also nodded back to the brief 2020 stretch when he said he would move away from violence-driven music and focus on something more positive. “I’ve turned my back on this lane, but here is my return!” he wrote. “Eyes out my rear view I’ve seen my influence shape the music we hear today. Time To Reclaim The THRONE. IM READY !!!! #Shiloh444 #ALBUMREADY”

NLE The Great’s last studio album, Cottonwood 2, landed in April 2023. Since then, he has put out three mixtapes, including Slut SZN, which arrived in September 2024.

Elsewhere, he had previously teased a 2026 album called Top Shotta 2, though this new rollout suggests that plans have shifted. For now, the focus is on Shiloh, the maroon wig and the new single he’s already started previewing.
