Cardi B explained her “can’t trap me” lyric after teasing new music on Instagram and addressing the line on Live.

Cardi B is back in the kind of moment that tends to travel fast: a beachside teaser, an unreleased track, and one line that had people zooming in immediately. On Monday, July 27, she shared a clip on social media of herself rapping to new music, and the bar at the center of the chatter came out bluntly: “B**ches be swearing they so f**kng bad, I don’t see it/A ni**a can’t trap me, I won’t keep him.”
The line quickly got its own life online, and Cardi later addressed it on Instagram Live with the kind of plainspoken defiance she’s always used when she wants to make a point without dressing it up.
“First thing’s first, I know exactly what I said on that line,” she said. “Sometimes a nig**a think that because you have a baby with them…That’s it’s like, you won’t move the f**k on…Nah, b**ch, I’ll take my baby and get the f**k on.”
She kept going, making the message even clearer.
“A baby won’t trap me, b**ch,” she continued. “We can have 10 f**kin’ kids. I’ll leave.”
The timing gives the remark a little more weight. Cardi broke up with her latest child’s father, NFL player Stefon Diggs, earlier this year. More recently, she’s also fueled rumors that she is dating Nigerian soccer star Maduka Okoye after the two were seen together multiple times.
Elsewhere, Cardi has been in a stretch of career momentum that makes this new snippet feel less like a stray post than the start of a new phase. She released her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, last September, then followed it with the Little Miss Drama Tour earlier this year. She also picked up major wins at the 2026 BET Awards and the 2026 American Music Awards.
Now, with a fresh teaser out in the world and a line already under a microscope, she appears to be moving back into music mode.
