Jaÿ-Z Adds a New Verse to Beyoncé’s ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ Remix as B’Day Anniversary Reissue Nears

Beyoncé has reopened the B’Day era with a new remix package for “Morning Dew (Donk),” and this time Jaÿ-Z is in the mix too. The updated track arrived on Wednesday, August 5, landing on streaming services ahead of the album’s 20-year anniversary re-release in September.

The new rollout includes more than one rework. Alongside the remix itself, Beyoncé also put out an acoustic “4:44” version and a “Donk Mix,” extending the song’s afterlife far beyond its original 2006 context. The first version of “Morning Dew (Donk)” was produced by Pharrell, but the refreshed cut now folds in an interpolation of Sheck Wes’ “Mo Bamba” as well as samples of Soulja Boy’s “Donk” and the Isley Brothers’ “Between the Sheets.” Jaÿ-Z’s new verse gives the track an added layer of star power, but the frame is still clearly Beyoncé’s.

For listeners who remember B’Day as one of the defining pop albums of its moment, the re-release taps straight into that era’s run of big records: “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm,” “Irreplaceable” and “Upgrade U.” “Déjà Vu” reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Ring the Alarm” marked Beyoncé’s highest-debuting single at the time, even if it eventually snapped her streak of top-ten singles after peaking at No. 11. The album originally came out in September 2006, and it’s remained one of the cleaner snapshots of Beyoncé in command of pop radio, club momentum and chart pressure all at once.

Elsewhere, the release has only sharpened the fan speculation that Act III may finally be close. Since Beyoncé launched her trilogy with 2022’s Renaissance (Act I), which leaned into dance and house, she followed with 2024’s Cowboy Carter (Act II), a sharp turn toward country. Now the theories are back in circulation: some fans expect rock to shape the final chapter, while others think the last installment could turn into a full collaborative project with Jay.
