Boosie BadAzz Apologizes to A$AP Rocky After Viral Thong Photo Was Exposed as Photoshop

The photo that kicked off the whole mess was never real, and now Boosie BadAzz has apologized to A$AP Rocky after getting a look at the interview where Rocky said as much.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, Boosie walked back his initial reaction to the viral image that had circulated last month, after Rocky sat down with Jason Lee and explained that the now-infamous shot was the product of Photoshop. What had looked like a candid glimpse of Rocky in a thong turned out to be a mix of his microphone pack strap and some digital tinkering.

Boosie made the correction on X, writing, "MY BAD ASAP IF THAT PHOTO WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO!!" He continued, "I SAW THAT SH*T I WAS LIKE F**K NO I COULDNT BELIEVE MY EYES. REAL NI**A HAD TO SPEAK!! THATS MY BAD IF IT WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO #love"

The original image had set off a social media frenzy when a screenshot from Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb Tour made it seem like he was wearing a thong beneath his clothes. Rocky eventually turned the episode into something else entirely, using the attention to launch a line of women’s thongs through his AWGE brand.

Speaking to Lee, Rocky said that move was less a punchline than a practical response to the joke becoming bigger than him.

"I created a thong line because they said I was wearing thongs," Rocky told Lee. "They Photoshopped me [and] that sh*t was crazy. The thing is, though, you gotta take situations like that and you gotta spin it and capitalize off that. Yo, we already sold out on the f**kin’ thongs first night!"

He added,

"I be laughing. So I can’t get mad when the joke is on me. Boosie, he older so he really think that is what it is. Boosie bugged out for that."

Elsewhere, the whole episode has played out like a neat little case study in how quickly a photo can become a story, and how fast that story can collapse once the artist in question decides to cash in on it instead.
