Doja Cat Calls Tyga a “Penis” Over His AI-Made Album $tarface

Doja Cat had a blunt reaction to Tyga’s new AI-assisted album, and she made sure it landed with the kind of deadpan insult that tends to travel fast once a livestream clip starts circulating. On Thursday, Aug. 13, video surfaced of Doja on stream casually bringing up Tyga’s concept album $tarface and dismissing it in a single sentence.

“Nobody asked me anything about Tyga, but I just felt like saying this,” she said. “Tyga is a penis for making an AI album.”

Tyga released $tarface on July 31. The project is built around an 1980s pop and R&B framework, and last week the California rapper confirmed what listeners had already begun to clock: AI was part of how the album was made.

Speaking to Vibe on Aug. 6, Tyga compared the decision to a magician keeping the method hidden. “I’ve never spoken on this with anybody because I always felt like it’s similar to a magician explaining how he does his tricks,” he said. “Like why are people overexplaining how they make shit that’s good? If you like it, you like it; if you don’t, you don’t. I don’t care. It’s supposed to give you an experience and a feeling. But we definitely used AI as a [tool]. And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going. It’s no different than when Auto-Tune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it.”

Elsewhere, Tyga’s rollout has landed in the middle of a wider argument about AI in rap. His project arrived not long after Fenix Flexin faced backlash over the use of AI on his hit song “Rubberz.”
