NBA Ben10 Says Allstar JR Did “What He Had to Do” in Houston Shooting

In the aftermath of the Houston restaurant shooting that left NBA Ben10 paralyzed, the Baton Rouge rapper is making it clear he doesn’t blame Allstar JR for the gunfire that changed both of their lives. In a video that surfaced last Saturday, Aug. 15, Ben said the situation spiraled, but argued that JR was only responding in the moment.

“The whole thing went wrong but […] he ain’t do sh*t wrong but take care of business,” he says in the clip.

The incident unfolded on April 8 at a restaurant in Houston, where Ben10 was shot after an attempted robbery targeting JR, who was also present. According to the account that later emerged, JR managed to grab a gun during the chaos and fire multiple shots, striking at least two people, including Ben.

Houston authorities later said Ben10 suffered “irreversible paralysis of the lower extremities” after a spine injury. That detail appeared in felony charging documents filed against JR in Harris County Court, where he was charged with aggravated assault.

JR was arrested in Michigan later in April and remains in custody. He is facing an aggravated assault charge in Harris County tied to a traumatic brain or spine injury enhancement, along with a federal charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Elsewhere, the fallout for Ben10 didn’t stop there. Just five weeks after the Houston shooting, WBRZ reported that he was shot again during an altercation in Baton Rouge. He is still in a wheelchair, though in June he said he expected to be back on his feet by Christmas.
