Blueface was detained by police on Kick after a swatting hoax claimed multiple people were shot and killed at his home.

Swatting calls have become a grim kind of internet theater, and Blueface found himself caught in one of the worst versions of it on Tuesday, July 21, when police surrounded his home while he was livestreaming on Kick.
The Los Angeles rapper, who has built a reputation for turning chaotic moments into content, stepped outside as officers closed in, then was told to walk backward toward them before he was placed in handcuffs. What looked like another random burst of livestream spectacle quickly turned into something else entirely once Blueface explained what had happened.
“Chat, we’ve been swatted,” he said afterward. “It’s great for content. It will be everywhere tomorrow. Thanks,” he added sarcastically, before laying out the claim that had sent police to the house in the first place. Someone, he said, told authorities that multiple people had been shot and killed inside.
“They came and said we shot three people,” Blueface said. “And they were all dead on the floor.”
According to a report from The Independent, the false caller went further, alleging that Blueface had killed his girlfriend and was restraining her child inside the home. Officers responded quickly, but police later released Blueface after confirming that his girlfriend and the child were safe.
XXL has reached out to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Blueface’s team for comment.
Blueface is far from the first rapper to deal with a hoax 911 call. Nicki Minaj has also spoken publicly about the experience, and has recently said it played a role in her support for President Trump.
The clip of Blueface being detained has since circulated online, another unsettling reminder of how easily a livestream can turn into a police response, and how quickly that response can become part of the show whether anyone wants it to or not.
