Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in Los Angeles
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 8, with Big Boy hosting and Fat Joe, Ice-T and others attending.
Hollywood’s Walk of Fame has long been one of those pop-culture mile markers that says as much about legacy as it does about celebrity, and on Wednesday, July 8, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were formally added to that list. The Cleveland rap group, whose melodic approach helped define a particular strand of ’90s hip-hop, was honored with a star in Los Angeles.
The ceremony brought the full group together: Krayzie Bone (Anthony Henderson), Layzie Bone (Steven Howse), Flesh-n-Bone (Stanley Howse), Bizzy Bone (Bryon Anthony McCane II) and Wish Bone (Charles Scruggs Jr.). As they accepted the honor, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recognized the group for the sound that made them stand apart, with the star presented as a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Big Boy hosted the event, which pulled in a roster of guests that included Ras Kass, Katt Williams, Ray J, and Lil Eazy-E, the son of Ruthless Records co-founder Eazy-E, who first signed the five-man group to his label.
Elsewhere in the room, the group’s place in hip-hop history was made plain by shoutouts from Fat Joe and Ice-T, both of whom praised Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for keeping their brotherhood intact for so long in a business that rarely rewards that kind of consistency. It was a fitting angle for a group that has spent decades leaning on its collective identity rather than trading it in.
Each member took a turn at the mic to thank family, friends and fans. Flesh-n-Bone was blunt about what the recognition meant, saying,
“We came from a place where opportunities were way too limited, so to be here standing with my brothers is something that I don’t take for granted,” said Flesh-n-Bone. “All we wanted to do was share a particular sound to inspire the world, and I thank God for giving us another chance to celebrate together.”
Layzie Bone followed with a line that underscored both the group’s bond and its longevity.
“All I ever wanted to see was my homeboys successful,” added Layzie Bone. “All I ever wanted in life was for us to prosper… Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, we are brothers.”
The honor places Bone Thugs-N-Harmony alongside a growing list of rap and hip-hop figures who already have stars on the Walk, including Ice Cube, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Ludacris and Dr. Dre.
