Future Is Already Teasing a Follow-Up to The Real Me After Its No. 1 Debut
Future teased another album on Instagram just weeks after The Real Me debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Future is barely out of the rollout for The Real Me, and he is already hinting that the next one is on the way. That kind of pace has become part of his vocabulary at this point, but the timing still stands out: less than a month after the album arrived, Pluto was back on Instagram Story, talking like another full-length was already in motion.
On Sunday, August 2, Future thanked fans for pushing his latest release to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and slipped in a message that did not sound especially final.
“Thanks for the #1 album,” he wrote. “I’m always super grateful for the consistent love 1000% this next one for you.”
It was a small post, but one that made the next chapter feel less hypothetical than inevitable.
The Real Me landed on July 10 as a 22-track set and Future’s 10th solo studio album, as well as his first solo project since 2024’s Mixtape Pluto. The buildup started months earlier. In January, he asked fans to help name the album through his Instagram Story. By June, Spotify billboards carrying the initials T.R.M. had begun appearing, and on June 15 he finally revealed the full title, the release date, and the lead single, “Radio.”
The album’s commercial start was strong enough to keep the conversation moving. The Real Me opened at No. 1 with 131,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, and it did so without any features, which separates it from much of Future’s studio output. That push gave him his twelfth No. 1 album overall and moved him into the top five artists with the most chart-toppers in history. He had previously been tied with Eminem at 11; now he sits behind only Jay-Z with 14, Drake and Taylor Swift with 15 each, and The Beatles at 19.
Elsewhere, the pace of the rollout suggests Future is not interested in letting the moment cool off for long. After months of clues, billboards, and a single to frame the record, he is already talking about another one, even if he has not said what shape it will take yet. For now, the clearest takeaway is that The Real Me is still fresh, and Future is already looking past it.
