Hip-Hop Artists Who’ve Gone Diamond: Drake, Eminem, 50 Cent and the Rap Acts in the 10 Million Club

Diamond certification still carries a particular kind of weight in hip-hop. Selling 10 million units is a rare marker in any genre, but in rap it lands as something close to a career-defining stamp: not just popularity, but staying power at the scale of a true superstar. Only a small number of artists have managed to get there.

Drake is the most recent rapper to keep stretching what diamond success can look like. After he released the video for “God’s Plan” in 2018, he called it one of the most important things he’d ever done. The track, which became the Grammy Award-winning lead single from Scorpion, earned him his first diamond plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America one year later. “God’s Plan” spent more than 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and, as of 2025, has been certified 16-times platinum. Drake now has 15 diamond songs in total, more than any other artist, along with a diamond album after Take Care passed 10 million units in October 2025.

Eminem, who has spent years among the best-selling hip-hop artists of all time, is right there in the same conversation. His diamond plaques include the Rihanna-assisted “Love the Way You Lie,” 2010’s “Not Afraid,” and the defining anthem “Lose Yourself,” plus the albums The Eminem Show and The Marshall Mathers LP. Whether his 2024 album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), can generate another diamond-certified hit is still an open question, but given Marshall Mathers’ track record, the odds hardly seem impossible.

Then there’s 50 Cent, whose run is anchored by one of rap’s most durable singles. In 2023, “In Da Club” officially went diamond, adding another milestone to a song that has never really left the culture. Jay-Z joined the club most recently, with “Empire State of Mind,” his Big Apple anthem with Alicia Keys, reaching diamond status in July 2024.

Elsewhere, the diamond list reaches well beyond the obvious names. Collaborations with pop figures like Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke and Katy Perry helped open the door for artists including Ludacris, T.I. and Juicy J to land among diamond-certified rap acts as well.
