Kodak Black says he wants a $100 million deal and a Mariah The Scientist collaboration album if he signs to Young Thug's YSL Records.

Young Thug’s public pitch to Kodak Black was always going to invite a response, and Kodak wasted little time setting the price. On Thursday, July 9, the Florida rapper went live and laid out what it would take for him to consider signing to YSL Records, turning Thug’s casual offer into a very specific negotiating stance.
When a fan brought up the idea, Kodak answered with a mix of disbelief and straight-faced demands:
“Yeah, Thug talking about whatever I think I want if I do a deal. Oh yeah?” Kodak said on the stream. “Well sh*t. I need a collab album with Mariah The Scientist, I need a hundred millions…”
He stopped there, but the message was clear enough. At least for now, those are the two terms Kodak has floated: a collaboration album with and a $100 million payday.
The exchange traces back to late June, when Thug publicly extended an offer after Kodak revealed he was no longer a free agent and had parted ways with Capitol Records. Seeing that news, Thug took the conversation to X and made his case in blunt fashion:
“If he would do a deal with me, I would give that boy whateva he think he want #NoCizzy,” Thug posted.
Kodak’s path to this point has moved quickly over the last few years. He signed with Capitol Records in 2022 in what was reported as a multimillion-dollar deal after an eight-year stretch with Atlantic Records. That Atlantic run wrapped with 2023’s Pistolz & Pearlz, fulfilling his six-album commitment. His Capitol debut, When I Was Dead, arrived later that year, and he released several more projects under the label before officially exiting after Kodak the Blessing, his final release, in early June.
Elsewhere, the offer from Thug and Kodak’s response add another strange little chapter to the ongoing rap-business ecosystem, where public negotiations can happen in real time and on livestreams. For now, though, Kodak seems to know exactly what he wants before he’d even consider making YSL home.
