Lil Uzi Vert Says They’re Working on a New Album After Teasing an MJ-Inspired Detail
Lil Uzi Vert teased a new album on Instagram, tying the project to Michael Jackson designers and recent studio posts.
Long before the next Lil Uzi Vert album has a title or a release date, the Philadelphia rapper has already started leaving breadcrumbs. On Tuesday, July 14, Uzi posted an Instagram Story that made the message plain enough: a new studio project is in motion, and they’re, in their words, “super hungry.”
In the image, Uzi is holding up a designer tag tied to Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, the pair who helped shape some of Michael Jackson’s most recognizable stage looks over the course of 25 years. Alongside the photo, they wrote, “Love ya !!!! I'm not quiet because I'm Lacking… I'm Quiet because I know THIS!!! the album,” before adding, “Super hungry.”
The post fits into a run of recent hints that Baby Pluto has been deep in album mode. Their last full-length release was Eternal Atake 2, which arrived in November 2024, and over the past few months Uzi has been dropping small signs that something new is being built behind the scenes.
In May, Uzi shared a video introducing a pet monkey named Piccola. In the clip, the 30-year-old rapper kisses the animal on top of the head, and the caption connected the new companion to a return to work: “Being able to take care of you is a blessing,” they wrote, adding, “The orphan from space [alien emoji, UFO emoji, monkey emoji].”
Uzi also set up an Instagram account for the monkey, and the bio on that page reads “tempo per l'album,” Italian for “time for the album.” In another Instagram post, this one a carousel of Piccola photos, Uzi spelled it out even more directly: “Early Studio sesh.”
Elsewhere, the Michael Jackson connection lingers in the background of all this teasing. Between Piccola, the studio posts and the nod to Jackson's costume designers, it looks like the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper is shaping the rollout of whatever comes next with a very specific reference point in mind.
