Pooh Shiesty Denied Bond for Third Time in Gucci Mane Case

The legal road for Pooh Shiesty got a little longer in Dallas federal court this week, where a judge again refused to let the Memphis rapper out on bond as he waits for trial in the Gucci Mane robbery and kidnapping case.

At a detention hearing on Tuesday, July 21, Judge David C. Godbey ruled that Shiesty, born Lontrell Williams, will remain in custody while the case moves toward a trial date currently set for 2027. It marked the third time the court has denied a request for release. Shiesty was first turned down after his April arrest, then again in June, when the judge said no combination of release conditions would be enough to protect public safety or guarantee his appearance in court. Tuesday’s decision left that earlier ruling in place.

Following the hearing, Shiesty’s attorney Kent Schaffer told XXL that the fight over bond is not over.

“Unfortunately, even with the additional evidence the judge ruled against us. This is a minor setback but we will not be discouraged in trying to ultimately free Lontrell.”

Shiesty, his father Big30 and six other men are accused of drawing Gucci Mane to a Dallas recording studio in January, where prosecutors say the group forced the 1017 Records founder to release Pooh from his recording contract at gunpoint before robbing Gucci and the people with him. All of the defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Unless the court schedule changes, the case remains headed for trial on Feb. 22, 2027.
