Report Says Diddy Spent as Much as $8 Million Fighting Federal Case

Diddy‘s federal case appears to have come with a price tag almost as heavy as the courtroom stakes. A report from TMZ on Thursday (Aug. 5) says the Bad Boy Records founder spent an estimated $7 million to $8 million on legal fees over the course of his nearly two-year federal case.

The reported sum covers work by a defense team that included attorneys Marc Agnifilo, Teny Geragos, Brian Steel, Nicole Westmoreland and others who represented him beginning with his September 2024 arrest. That arrest set off a case that moved from accusation to trial to sentencing over the next year and a half, with Diddy facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.

After an eight-week trial in 2025, the jury cleared him on the racketeering and sex trafficking charges but found him guilty on two counts tied to the Mann Act, specifically for transporting male escorts across state lines for prostitution. In October 2025, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison and is now serving that term at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, N.J.

His projected release date has shifted more than once since then. The Federal Bureau of Prisons currently lists Diddy for release on Feb. 20, 2028, which is one month later than the Jan. 24, 2028 date previously shown. That change follows a reported July altercation involving Diddy and another inmate.

Over the past year, the release date has moved several times as disciplinary issues and sentence recalculations were reportedly taken into account, at one point stretching as far out as June 2028 before settling on the current date.
