In it, the producer’s girlfriend tells the operator that Tay Keith, born BryTavious Lakeith Chambers, had asked her to stop by the day before, and then did not respond to calls or texts for roughly 24 hours.

“He hasn’t been responding since yesterday,” she says to the dispatcher. “I got here and I was trying to call him to let him know and I haven’t gotten a response since…it’s been 24 hours.”

The woman also told the operator that Tay Keith had breathing problems and high blood pressure. Those details, in the dispatch audio, read as practical markers of worry—specific medical concerns passed to professionals who had to decide whether to force entry.

In a statement released by the family, BryTavious was remembered in intimate terms that contrast with his public persona:

While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious—a source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance,” the statement reads in part. “We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched.
