Wayne Barrow Wins Control of Biggie’s Music Catalog in Legal Fight With Faith Evans

The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate has landed in the hands of the man who once managed him. Wayne Barrow has won his legal fight with Faith Evans over control of Biggie’s music catalog and intellectual property rights, according to documents obtained by XXL on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

A Delaware Chancery Court judge ruled on Aug. 7 that Barrow will serve as executor of the late Brooklyn rapper’s estate, and that Evans has no legal authority to block funds earmarked for a trust established by Biggie’s late mother, Voletta Wallace. The ruling also confirms Barrow as the person responsible for managing both the trust fund and Wallace’s estate.

The dispute traces back to March 2025, when The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate entered into a deal with publishing company Primary Wave that gave the company a 50 percent interest in Biggie’s catalog, publishing, and publicity rights. The reported $100 million agreement was set up by Biggie’s mother before she died in February 2025 at the age of 78.

Things escalated in July 2025, when Wayne Barrow filed suit against Faith Evans, accusing her of disregarding their split ownership and obstructing estate funds by redirecting payments to herself and the late rapper’s children.

In a 16-page ruling, Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick opened with a line from Biggie’s “Ten Crack Commandments,” the song where he warns to “keep your family and business completely separated.”
